Happy Independence Day! Overview of celebrations happening all over Milwaukee and SE Wisconsin 🎆🧨
WAUWATOSA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Independence Day celebrations are occurring all over the southeastern part of Wisconsin today!
One celebration has a long history - Wauwatosa's Fourth of July Parade!Â
Parade-goers lined North Ave. to take in the more than 80 unites participating including floats, veterans' groups, first responders, boys and girls club chapters and the Wauwatosa West High School band.Â
Even with the rain, the Tosa Parade drew a big crowd, with people coming in from other parts of our area to see it!Â
"We have some family members who are from here who said that this Tosa parade had a lot of fun floats and things like that," said Anthony Olguin, a Pewaukee resident who recently moved from Colorado. "So yeah, we were excited to come out here."Â
CBS 58 Chief Meteorologist Drew Burgoyne and his daughter were also on hand to say hi to parade-goers and of course dish out some candy to kids along the route.Â
In the city, Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson visited some local parks hosting celebrations today. CBS 58 had a chance to catch up with him at Enderis Park on 72nd.Â
Needless to say, he's excited to see all the city has in store for the Fourth of July and is glad people are getting outside to enjoy the festivities.Â
"Fourth of July is my favorite holiday," said Mayor Johnson. "Because what it does. Like here at Enderis Park and so many other neighborhoods across Milwaukee. It brings our entire community together."Â
"Not just the city, but the state and the country. That's why I appreciate it so much."Â
While Drew Burgoyne was in the Wauwatosa parade, CBS 58 Sports Director Lance Allen started in the Humbolt parade in Milwaukee and finished at the Franklin parade this morning decked out in red, white and blue.Â
Another familiar face was seen at the Brookfield parade, CBS 58's Jessob Reisbeck and his sons were there this morning.Â
CBS 58's Frankie Jupiter was also in the Shorewood parade, waving and celebrating along with everyone else.Â
Our very own Meteorologist Justin Thompson-Gee said, 'Happy 4th!' in the Whitefish Bay Parade!Â
From CBS 58, we wish everyone a fun and safe Independence Day weekend!Â
